ready

这两个短语共同的意思是“准备”。它们的区别是：

前者着重表示“作准备”这一动作; 后者着重表示“准备好了”这一状态。试比较下面两个句子的不同：

They are ready for the competition.

他们做好了比赛的准备。

We must get ready for it.

我们必须准备好。

这两个短语都可以表示已经完成采取某种行动之前所必要的准备或具备进行某项活动的条件。它们的区别在于：

1.be ready表示具备做某事的条件、处于可以做某事的状态,或有思想准备,乐于做某事。例如:

We are ready to start.我们准备好了,可以开始了。

He was always ready to help his friends.他总是乐于帮助朋友 。

2.而be prepared除强调为做某事而进行了积极的努力外,还常常用来强调精神上有应付意想不到的事件的能力。例如:

The student was thoroughly prepared for the examination.这个学生为考试做了充分准备。

These children are prepared for the disappointments as well as the joys of life.这些孩子不仅准备享受生活的乐趣,而且也准备经受生活中的失意。

这两者读起来音相同,但却绝非一回事。already是副词, ready是形容词; already的意思是“已经”, all ready的意思是“全准备好”, all用以表示程度。试比较：

He is already there.

他已经在那儿了。

He is all ready there.

他在那儿完全准备好了。

The tea is already on the table.

茶已摆在茶几上了。

The tea is all ready on the table.

茶已沏好,摆在茶几上了。
