拉丁前缀super-表示over，above，与希腊前缀hyper-和日耳曼词源的单词over同源，stition部分可以理解做a standing，词根与stand同源，表示站立。罗马人信奉神，认为神和人是平等共存的，可是迷信认为常识之外超自然现象背后的力量“standing above”人类。
