speed指运动的速度,既可指快速,也可指慢速; velocity表示沿一定路线运动的速度,通常指直线、弧线或圆周运动的速度,这个词可与speed通用,但多用于科学技术方面。例如:

这些名词都含“速度、速率”之意。
