词源词根法
en-，进入，使。-voy，路，词源同via，way.该词源自法语动词envoyer的过去分词形式envoye‘sent’（被派遣的），其终极词源乃古法语en voie‘on the way’（在途中，在进行中）。所以envoy的字面义就是one who has been sent on the way to carry out a mission（被派遣去执行使命的人），在外交用语中即指“使者”或“使节”。
