China-developed commercial airliner C919 has edged a step closer to takeoff after the plane's developer put it through the first high-speed taxi test last Sunday morning at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The C919, a twin-engine airliner designed to compete with the Airbus 320 and Boeing 737, took off from Shanghai's Pudong international airport at just after 2pm on Friday.
