来自希腊语lyra，一种外国乐器。lyre是古希腊的一种七弦竖琴，音译为“里拉琴”。在希腊神话传说中，里拉琴首先由神使赫尔墨斯把琴弦缠绕在乌龟壳上制成，随后他把琴赠给太阳神阿波罗，阿波罗又把琴赠给了他的儿子俄耳甫斯，使他成为一位著名琴师，只要他一开始弹奏七弦琴，万物都会静静地聆听并为他美妙的琴声所打动。在古代西方，抒情诗常用里拉琴伴奏，所以由里拉琴的名字lyre产生了lyric（抒情诗）、lyricist（抒情诗人）等单词。
