right

这两个词意思相同,都表示“正确”,多数情况下可互换。例如:

1.correct含有按标准或规则往往是“正确”的意味; 而right含有按道德规范往往是“正确”的意味。例如:

This sentence is grammatically correct but idiomatically wrong.这句话从语法上讲是对的,但不符合习惯用法。

I don't think it's right to leave children alone in a house.我认为把小孩独自留在房里是不对的。

2.right有“正常的”“正义的”“井井有条的”等意思,而correct没有。例如:

He invited the right persons.他邀请了该请的客人。

She was right to refuse.

It was right of her to refuse.

It was right for her to refuse.

It was right that she should refuse.

她拒绝是正确的。

这两个词在意思上基本相同。它们的区别是：

1.在修饰全句时要用rightly而不用right。例如:

Quite rightly,Fannie referred the complaint to the director.芬尼把一肚子苦水向主任倾诉这是完全正确的。

2.如果修饰的是动词,两者都可以使用,但right要放在动词之后,而rightly多放在动词之前。例如:

If I remember right,Robert died two years ago.要是我没记错的话,罗伯特两年前就去世了。

These prisoners were rightly punished for their crimes.这些犯人罪有应得。

3.修饰介词短语时要用right,不用rightly。例如:

The nail went right through the plank.钉子恰好钉穿木板。

4.修饰另一个形容词或副词,要用right,不用rightly。而且,这样使用时, right要放在另一个副词之前。例如:

The policeman has knocked the blackguard right out.民警已把这个坏蛋打倒在地。

5.right作为副词,可以用在介词短语之前,意思是“正好”, rightly不能这样用。例如:
